Desiree Acosta
Desiree is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Montclair State University. She has over three years of experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, where she has facilitated group therapy and supported individuals navigating a wide range of emotional and life challenges.
Desiree strives to create a safe, comfortable space where clients feel heard, supported, and understood. Using a warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach, she helps individuals identify their strengths, build practical skills, and set meaningful goals that align with their values. Her work integrates psychodynamic insight with evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused strategies to explore the connection between past experiences and present challenges. Together, she and her clients examine how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, gently reframe unhelpful patterns, and develop tools that support lasting change.
Many people seek therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or worn down from carrying so much on their own. Therapy can offer a space to pause, exhale, and feel supported. When you’re ready, Desiree will walk alongside you as you gain clarity, build confidence, and cultivate self-compassion on your path toward your best self.
